Astronomy and the Star of Bethlehem:
What exactly did the Magi see?
A Presentation by Physicist Dr. Michael J. Burin
(Dr. Burin is a tenured professor on the faculty of physics,
and Chair of the department at CSU San Marcos.)
A few years before anno domini wise men came from the east, following a Star. They called it “His star.” But what about it made it uniquely His? After a general review of stars in the Bible, Dr. Burin will evaluate various theories on the Star of Bethlehem, including a recent one based on a Roman relic that is both promising and fraught. He will bring his expertise in the sciences, and astronomy in particular, and share some of the latest evidences illuminating this great phenomenon. Please bring your questions to the discussion following this fascinating presentation.
